- the first component communicating wirelessly with the second component over a personal area network during the physical activity;
the first component determining that the second component has ceased communication with the first component during the physical activity; and
the first component adapting one of its functions in response to the determination that the second component has ceased communication with the first component.

The methods may include the first component communicating wirelessly with the second component over a personal area network during the physical activity, the first component determining that the second component has ceased communication with the first component during the physical activity, and the first component adapting a function in response to determining that the second component has ceased communication with the first component.
