1. A method of determining auto-calibrating information of a test sensor, the method comprising the acts of:

  • providing an optical read head, the optical read head including a light source, a light guide and a detector, the optical read head forming an opening that is sized to receive a test sensor, the detector including a linear-detector array;

    providing a test sensor having a plurality of apertures formed therein;

    placing the test sensor in the opening of the optical read head;

    transmitting light from the light source through the plurality of apertures;

    detecting the light transmitted through the plurality of apertures using the linear-detector array or detecting the absence of light being transmitted through the test sensor using the linear-detector array; and

    using the detected light or the absence of detected light information from the detector to determine the auto-calibration information of the test sensor.
