1. A method of automatically requesting assistance for a patient, comprising:
- wearing a wireless device with one or more accelerometers and a magnetometer or other sensors on the patient to detect patient motion, body rotation or height;
using outputs of an accelerometer and one or more additional sensors, wherein the accelerometer and sensor are a single pendant, watch, or box to detect a fall, by analyzing changes in height and accelerations associated with changes in height and immediately thereafter determining if the patient is on a floor for a predetermined period;
transmitting a request for help over a telephone; and
confirming the fall when a person or a call center contacts the patient to verify the patient status and thereafter automatically requesting assistance for the patient.

22. A method to provide personal emergency response for a patient, comprising:
-
wearing a wireless device with at least one or more accelerometers and a magnetometer or other sensors on the patient to detect patient motion, wherein the accelerometer and sensor are a single pendant, watch, or box; using outputs of the accelerometer and magnetometer or other sensor for analyzing rotations or changes in height and accelerations and determining if the patient is on a floor for a predetermined period; determining a fall based on detected motions; waiting for a predetermined period to detect if the patient can recover from the fall and automatically requesting assistance using a telephone if the patient is unable to recover from the fall; and requesting assistance from a person or a call center for the patient if the patient pushes a button requesting assistance; and confirming the fall when the person or call center contacts the patient. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25)
