1. A low emissivity transparent composite film comprising:
- a transparent polyester film substrate;
an underlayer of abrasion resistant hardcoat material deposited on the surface of the film substrate and comprising a crosslinked acrylate polymer, the underlayer having a dried thickness of about 2 to about 6 microns;
at least one infrared reflective layer comprising at least one core metallic layer and at least one spacer layer comprising one or more metal oxides;
a transparent, protective top coat comprising a polysilazane, fluoro silane, fluoroalkyl silane, or combination thereof and having a thickness of less than 0.5 microns;
wherein the composite film has an emissivity of less than about 0.2 and an abrasion delta haze of 5 percent or less.

A low emissivity and EMI shielding transparent composite film typically for use in association with window glazing and comprising a transparent film substrate having on one side thereof an underlayer of abrasion resistant hardcoat material with at least one infrared reflective layer covering the underlayer, typically a metallic layer which may be encased in metal oxide layers, which is then covered with a thin external protective top coat of a cured fluorinated resin.

a transparent film substrate comprising poly(ethylene)terephthalate; an underlayer of abrasion resistant hardcoat material deposited on the surface of the film substrate and comprising a crosslinked acrylate polymer, the underlayer having a dried thickness of about 2 to about 6 microns; at least one infrared reflective layer comprising at least one core metallic layer, at least one spacer layer comprising indium oxide, indium zinc oxide, indium tin oxide, or mixtures thereof; and a transparent, protective top coat comprising a polysilazane, fluoro silane, fluoroalkyl silane, or combination thereof and having a thickness of less than 0.5 microns; wherein the composite film has an emissivity of less than about 0.17 and an abrasion delta haze of 5% or less. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
