1. A method of making a microfluidic diagnostic device, the method comprising:

  • printing a channel pattern onto a surface of a base sheet with one or more non-adhesive layers prior to printing a layer of adhesive onto the channel pattern, wherein the pattern defines at least one channel passing through the thickness of the adhesive; and

    adhering a cover sheet to the base sheet with the adhesive to enclose the at least one channel when the cover sheet is adhered to the base sheet and wherein at least a portion of the channel has a mean width less than 1.0 mm, and wherein the cover sheet comprises at least one fluid sample inlet portal and at least one vent aperture each of which is configured to be in fluid communication with the at least one channel.
