Abstract

A non-contact power transmission apparatus accurately determines the kind of object that is placed on the charging deck of the non-contact power transmission apparatus, and, only when a non-contact power receiving apparatus is placed on the power transmission apparatus, allows power transmission and data communication to take place, thereby accurately determining the state of the receiver side and efficiently controlling the transmission of power. In the power transmission apparatus, the power supplied to the non-contact power receiving apparatus is measured, and the output power of the wireless power signal output from two different cores is controlled, thereby allowing the charging operation to be stably conducted even if the non-contact power receiving apparatus is moved anywhere on the power transmission apparatus. The power transmission apparatus improves both the reliability of operation of the non-contact charging system, and the competitiveness of related products, such as portable terminals, battery packs and the like.

Claims

1. A non-contact power transmission apparatus comprising:

a board comprising a controller, the controller controlling a power value corresponding to a non-contact power receiving apparatus;

a shielding plate disposed on the board; and

a primary core located on the shielding plate, electrically connected to the controller, and transmits a wireless power to the non-contact power receiving apparatus based on the controlled power value, the primary core comprising a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core,

wherein an overlapping region is formed between the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the controller detects the non-contact power receiving apparatus and receives a data signal from the non-contract power receiving apparatus via the primary core;

wherein the controller controls the power value based on the data signal.

3. A non-contact power transmission apparatus comprising:

a controller which receives a power control requesting signal and calculates a corrected power value corresponding to the power control requesting signal; and

a primary core which is electrically connected to the controller, and transmits a wireless power to a non-contact power receiving apparatus based on the corrected power value, the primary core comprising a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core,

wherein an overlapping region is formed between the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core.

The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the controller transmits an ID requesting signal to the non-contact power receiving apparatus placed adjacent to the primary core, and the primary core transmits the wireless power to the non-contact power receiving apparatus if the controller receives an ID response signal in response to the ID requesting signal.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the controller transmits the wireless power via the first and the second power transmission cores such that the sum of output power of the first and second power transmission cores is the same as the corrected power value.

6. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein, the controller receives a pulse signal as the power control requesting signal from the non-contact power receiving apparatus and controls an intensity of the wireless power based on the pulse signal.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the pulse signal comprises any one of a power-off code, a gauge code, a power-up code, and a power-down code.

8. A non-contact power receiving apparatus comprising:

a power receiving core which receives a wireless power from at least one of a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core included in a non-contact power transmission apparatus;

a checker which detects a voltage induced to the power receiving core and determines whether the induced voltage is within a predetermined voltage range; and

a controller which transmits a power control requesting signal to a non-contact power transmission apparatus if, based on the determination of the checker, the induced voltage is not within the predetermined voltage range;

wherein the power receiving core receives a corrected wireless power from at least one of the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core in response to the power control requesting signal.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the controller receives an ID requesting signal from the non-contact power transmission apparatus and transmits an ID response signal to the non-contact power transmission apparatus in response to the ID requesting signal.

10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the controller generates a pulse signal as the power control requesting signal by comparing the induced voltage with a predetermined voltage.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the pulse signal comprises any one of a power-off code, a gauge code, a power-up code, and a power-down code.

12. A wireless power transmission method comprising:

receiving a power control requesting signal;

calculating a corrected power value corresponding to the power control requesting signal; and

transmitting, based on the corrected power value, a wireless power to a non-contact power receiving apparatus via at least one of a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core in a primary core,

wherein an overlapping region is formed between the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

transmitting an ID requesting signal to the non-contact power receiving apparatus placed adjacent to the primary core;

receiving an ID response signal in response to the ID requesting signal; and

transmitting an initial wireless power to the non-contact power receiving apparatus.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the wireless power is transmitted via the first and the second power transmission cores such that the sum of output power of the first and the second power transmission cores is the same as the corrected power value.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the received power control requesting signal includes a pulse signal, and the corrected voltage value is calculated based on the pulse signal.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the pulse signal comprises any one of a power-off code, a gauge code, a power-up code, and a power-down code.

17. A wireless power receiving method comprising:

receiving, via a power receiving core, a wireless power from at least one of a first power transmission core and a second power transmission core included in a non-contact power transmission apparatus;

detecting a voltage induced to the power receiving core;

determining whether the induced voltage is within a predetermined voltage range;

transmitting a power control requesting signal to a non-contact power transmission apparatus if, based on the determining, the induced voltage is not within the predetermined voltage range; and

receiving, via the power receiving core, a corrected wireless power from at least one of the first power transmission core and the second power transmission core in response to the power control requesting signal.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

receiving an ID requesting signal from the non-contact power transmission apparatus;

transmitting an ID response signal in response to the ID requesting signal; and

receiving an initial wireless power from the non-contact power transmission apparatus.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the power control requesting signal includes a pulse signal, the pulse signal is generated by comparing a voltage generated by the received wireless power with a predetermined voltage.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the pulse signal comprises any one of a power-off code, a gauge code, a power-up code, and a power-down code.
