1. A method of exposing document features in association with status information for a document, comprising:

  • displaying an in-space user interface and an out-space actuator within the in-space user interface associated with the in-space user interface, wherein the in-space user interface includes a display of authoring features and a document display area for creating and editing a document including displaying an editable document;

    receiving a status of the document;

    in response to receiving the status of the document, temporarily displaying the status next to the display of the out-space actuator within the in-space user interface and automatically removing the display of the status without user interaction;

    determining a non-authoring feature that may be utilized for changing the status of the document;

    receiving a selection of the out-space actuator;

    in response to receiving the selection of the out-space actuator, removing the display of the editable document from within the document display area and displaying an out-space user interface including a display of the non-authoring feature and other non-authoring features within the document display area;

    displaying the status of the document in the out-space user interface; and

    displaying information about the non-authoring feature that may be utilized for changing the status of the document in the out-space user interface with the displayed status of the document.
