1. A method for monitoring a patient and delivering at least one drug during a medical procedure in a medical care facility comprising the steps of:

  • a) locating the patient in a first location of the medical care facility and connecting to the patient at least one sensor for monitoring at least one physiological parameter of the patient;

    b) obtaining a first housing having a first microprocessor-based patient unit having at least one first connection point for receiving input signals from the at least one sensor and at least one second connection point for outputting patient physiological parameters;

    c) locating the patient in a second location of the medical care facility, connecting the at least one second connection point to a second housing having a second microprocessor-based procedure unit, and delivering the drug to the patient and performing a medical procedure on the patient, wherein at least a portion of the medical procedure is controlled by the second microprocessor-based procedure unit and;

    d) delivering oxygen to the patient by way of the second connection point.
