1. A system for generating information at a physician'"'"'s office for a patient related to a prescribed medication, the system comprising:
- a physician'"'"'s server which is attached to the Internet, said physician'"'"'s server being provided with prescription information, as part of a medication being prescribed by a physician to a patient;
content requesting software running on said physician'"'"'s server;
an auxiliary computer, said auxiliary computer also attached to the Internet and receiving information from said physician'"'"'s server;
selection software running on said auxiliary computer; and
a bridge server attached to the Internet and requesting information from said auxiliary computer and sending instructions to a printer to print content;
wherein said content requesting software on said physician'"'"'s server forms a first data structure including at least a portion of said prescription information and transmits said first data structure to said auxiliary computer;
wherein said selection software on said auxiliary computer receives said first data structure and from at least a portion of said first data structure selects content for said patient;
wherein said auxiliary computer creates and holds a second data structure indicative of said content;
wherein said bridge server periodically requests second data structures from said auxiliary computer;
wherein, only upon receipt of such a request from said bridge server, said auxiliary computer forwards said second data structure to said bridge server; and
wherein, in response to said second data structure being received, said bridge server causes said content to be printed.

Abstract
Systems and methods for providing targeted content to a patient who has received a prescription for medication. The systems and methods generally provide the content prior to the Point of Sale (POS) of the actual prescription to allow patients to review the content and possibly act on it prior to actually obtaining the medication. Depending on embodiment, the content may be provided by a pharmacy at or around the time of dispensing or by a physician at or around the time of prescribing.
