Abstract

A method is for entities implementing a phase of communicating data conveyed by a plurality of transport channels, the data being multiplexed into at least one multiplexing frame. The data is rate-matched by transforming an input data block of an initial size into an output data block of a final size. The method includes determining a first parameter, which is an integer, and transmitting the first parameter from one of the entities to another of the entities. The method also includes calculating the final size, according to the initial size, the first parameter, a second parameter and a maximum payload of the multiplexing frame. The second parameter is a non-dimensional number corresponding to a maximum percentage of bits to be punctured. The first parameter is selected from a first range, and the second parameter is selected from a second range that is different from the first range.

Claims

1. A method for a telecommunication system, said telecommunication system comprising a plurality of entities implementing a phase of communicating data conveyed by a plurality of transport channels, said data of said plurality of transport channels being multiplexed into at least one multiplexing frame, said data being rate-matched by transforming an input data block of an initial size into an output data block of a final size, said method comprising:

determining, by one of said plurality of entities, a first parameter, said first parameter being an integer relating to a rate matching ratio of said final size to said initial size;

transmitting said first parameter from said one of said plurality of entities to another of said plurality of entities;

receiving, by said another of said plurality of entities, said first parameter transmitted by said one of said plurality of entities; and

calculating, by said another of said plurality of entities, said final size of said output data block, according to said initial size of said input data block, said first parameter, a second parameter and a maximum payload of said at least one multiplexing frame, said second parameter being a non-dimensional number corresponding to a maximum percentage of bits to be punctured, said first parameter being selected from a first range, and said second parameter being selected from a second range that is different from said first range.

2. A telecommunication system, comprising:

a sending entity and a receiving entity, said sending entity and said receiving entity implementing a phase of communicating data conveyed by a plurality of transport channels, said data of said plurality of transport channels being multiplexed into at least one multiplexing frame, said data being rate-matched by transforming an input data block of an initial size into an output data block of a final size, said receiving entity comprising

a processing unit that transmits a first parameter to said sending entity, said first parameter being an integer relating to a rate matching ratio of said final size to said initial size; and

said sending entity comprising

a processing unit that receives said first parameter, and calculates said final size of said output data block, according to said initial size of said input data block, said first parameter, a second parameter and a maximum payload of said at least one multiplexing frame, said second parameter being a non-dimensional number corresponding to a maximum percentage of bits to be punctured, said first parameter being selected from a first range, and said second parameter being selected from a second range that is different from said first range.

3. A base station for communicating, with a mobile station, data conveyed by a plurality of transport channels grouped together within a composite of transport channels, said base station comprising:

a processing unit that determines a first parameter, said first parameter being an integer relating to a rate matching ratio of a final size of an output data block to an initial size of an input data block and being used by said mobile station for calculating said final size of said output data block, according to said initial size of said input data block, said first parameter, a second parameter and a maximum payload of a multiplexing frame, said second parameter being a non-dimensional number corresponding to a maximum percentage of bits to be punctured, said first parameter being selected from a first range, and said second parameter being selected from a second range that is different from said first range,

said mobile station transforming said input data block of said initial size into said output data block of said final size, wherein the processing unit transmits said first parameter to said mobile station.

4. A communication method of a base station for communicating, with a mobile station, data conveyed by a plurality of transport channels grouped together within a composite of transport channels, the communication method comprising:

determining, by the base station, a first parameter, said first parameter being an integer relating to a rate matching ratio of a final size of an output data block to an initial size of an input data block and being used by said mobile station for calculating said final size of said output data block, according to said initial size of said input data block, said first parameter, a second parameter and a maximum payload of a multiplexing frame, said second parameter being a non-dimensional number corresponding to a maximum percentage of bits to be punctured, said first parameter being selected from a first range, and said second parameter being selected from a second range that is different from said first range,

said mobile station transforming said input data block of said initial size into an output block of said final size; and

transmitting said first parameter to said mobile station.
