1. An ear tip piece for insertion in an ear canal to attenuate sound being transmitted to the ear, comprising:
- a first end including a solid portion that is sized and shaped to be inserted into and align the ear tip piece in the ear canal;
a second end including a reversibly compressible portion formed by a hollow having flexible walls that adapt to the shape of the ear canal to create a seal;
a channel formed in the solid portion that is open to the hollow for transmitting sound to the ear; and
a sound attenuator positioned inside the channel for attenuating sound being transmitted to the ear.

a first end including a solid portion that is sized and shaped to be inserted into and align the ear tip piece in the ear canal; a second end including a reversibly compressible portion formed by a hollow having flexible walls that adapt to the shape of the ear canal to create a seal; a bend between the first end and second end, the bend comprising an interior curve and an opposite curve that are sized and shaped to facilitate insertion of the ear tip piece at or near a second bend of the ear canal; a channel formed in the solid portion that is open to the hollow for transmitting sound to the ear; and a sound attenuator positioned in the channel to attenuate sound transmitted to the ear; and a coupler inserted into the channel for retaining the sound attenuator in the ear tip piece. - View Dependent Claims (21)

a first end including a solid portion that is sized and shaped to be inserted into and align the ear tip piece in the ear canal; a second end including a reversibly compressible portion formed by a hollow having flexible walls that adapt to the shape of the ear canal to create a seal; a bend between the first end and second end, the bend comprising an interior curve and an opposite curve that are sized and shaped to facilitate insertion of the ear tip piece at or near a first or second bend of the ear canal; a channel formed in the solid portion that is open to the hollow for transmitting sound to the ear; and a sound attenuator positioned in the channel to attenuate sound transmitted to the ear, wherein the sound attenuator is positioned proximal to the ear drum when the ear tip piece is inserted in the ear canal.
