Projecting onto an upper surface of a body of water
First Claim
1. A projection system for projecting upon an upper surface of liquid, comprising:
- a surface agitation assembly selectively operable to agitate a portion of the upper surface of liquid to form a projection screen; and
a projector assembly projecting light onto the projection screen on the upper surface of the liquid, wherein the liquid is at least translucent to light and wherein the projection screen on the upper surface reflects a portion of the projected light, wherein the surface agitation assembly comprises a wave generator system, andwherein the wave generator system is selectively operable to create rows of standing waves or a surface roughness in the portion of the upper surface, whereby the projection screen is selectively generated and removed from the upper surface.

Abstract
A projection system for projecting light such as images or content upon a liquid surface such as a lake or pool surface. The system includes an agitation assembly selectively operable to agitate a portion of the upper surface of liquid to form a projection screen. The system includes a projector assembly projecting or focusing light onto the projection screen on the upper surface of the liquid. The liquid is translucent to light, but the projection screen on the upper surface reflects a portion of the projected light due to the agitation. The agitation assembly may include an aeration system with a distribution manifold and is positioned below the liquid surface and has outlets discharging gas into the liquid such that air bubbles for the screen. The manifold outlets may be provided at two or more depths, whereby two or more portions of the projection screen are generated at differing times.

8. A display system, comprising:
-
an open container for receiving a volume of a liquid; a wave generator system operable to create a projection screen by creating a surface roughness on an area of an upper surface of the liquid, whereby light is reflected back from the upper surface; and a projection assembly focusing light into the open container onto the created projection screen, wherein the wave generator system creates rows of waves providing the surface roughness in the area of the upper surface. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11)

12. A method of projecting on a translucent surface of a body of water, comprising:
-
positioning a surface agitation assembly in or proximate to the body of water; operating the surface agitation assembly to form a projection screen in a portion of an upper surface of the body of water; and projecting light upon the portion of the surface of the body of water, whereby at least a portion of the light is reflected to an observer due to an increase in a surface roughness of the upper surface by the surface agitation assembly, wherein the surface agitation assembly comprises a wave generator system and wherein the wave generator system comprises first and second wave generators creating a cross-hatch pattern of waves in the portion of the upper surface to form the projection screen. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
