Abstract

A method and accompanying apparatus that allows high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide for tooth whitening by use of an aerosol spray. The aerosol spray may be delivered through a mouthpiece that will direct the spray onto the teeth while inhibiting any escape of the spray to the lips and outside the moth. Also, in combination with antiplaque formulations, enhanced tooth whitening is effected.

Claims

1. A method for whitening teeth consisting of;

providing an aqueous solution consisting of a concentration of hydrogen peroxide of from about 6% to about 37% by weight;

delivering the solution into the oral cavity of a user as an aerosol spray so that the aerosol spray is directed at the user'"'"'s teeth and said aerosol spray having direct and immediate whitening effect on the user'"'"'s teeth and without regard to incidental contact of the spray on the user'"'"'s gums or other oral tissue, and thereby creating a saliva mixture containing the hydrogen peroxide;

expelling the resulting saliva mixture.

2. A method for whitening teeth with a hydrogen peroxide spray solution as a tooth whitening procedure consisting of:

delivering into the oral cavity of a user as an aerosol spray, an aqueous solution consisting of water and hydrogen peroxide having a concentration of hydrogen peroxide of about 6% to 37% by weight

whereby the aqueous solution is delivered having direct and immediate whitening action on the user'"'"'s teeth and without regard to incidental contact of the solution on the gums or other oral tissue, thereby creating a saliva mixture containing the hydrogen peroxide; and

expelling the resulting saliva mixture.

3. A method for whitening teeth with a hydrogen peroxide spray solution as a tooth whitening procedure consisting of:

delivering an aqueous solution as an aerosol spray into the oral cavity of a user including contact with the user'"'"'s teeth, having direct and immediate whitening effect on the user'"'"'s teeth and without regard to incidental contact of the solution on the gums or other oral tissue, the aqueous solution consisting of water and hydrogen peroxide having a concentration of hydrogen peroxide of about 6% to 37% by weight, thereby creating a saliva mixture containing the hydrogen peroxide; and

expelling the resulting saliva mixture.
