1. A surgical method, comprising:

  • transorally advancing a first conduit and a second conduit into a patient;

    implanting the first conduit within the patient such that food in the esophagus can enter the first conduit, advance through a cannulated interior of the first conduit, and exit the first conduit into an intestine of the patient prior to contacting gastric fluid produced by a stomach of the patient; and

    implanting the second conduit within the patient such that the gastric fluid can enter the second conduit, advance through a cannulated interior of the second conduit, and exit the second conduit into the intestine prior to contacting the food, a proximal end of the second conduit being distal of a proximal end of the first conduit.
