1. A method for configuring a stimulation pulse in an implantable stimulator device (ISD), comprising:

  • determining in the ISD a first pulse to be applied to an electrode for patient therapy;

    reconstructing in the ISD the first pulse into a fractionalized pulse, wherein the fractionalized pulse comprises a plurality of second pulses, wherein the fractionalized pulse comprises a duty cycle in which each second pulse is asserted for a second duration and not asserted between the second durations; and

    applying the fractionalized pulse to the electrode.
