- an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and capable of being twisted about the longitudinal axis andan optical fiber operatively coupled with the elongate body and having a strain sensor provided thereon, the strain sensor configured to indicate twist of the elongate body, wherein the optical fiber comprises a first portion and a second portion, each portion having a strain sensor provided thereon, and wherein the strain sensor provided on the first portion has greater reflectivity than the strain sensor provided on the second portion.
