1. A computer implemented method comprising:

  • performing a backup of a database file by generating a schema of table and index information along with backup contents of the database file and storing the generated schema in association with a backup copy of the database file;

    receiving a request to restore a workflow from an unmounted backup copy of a database file, wherein the backup copy of the database file is a single monolithic database file;

    responsive to receiving the request to restore the workflow from the unmounted backup copy of the database file;

    locating a workflow attributes table;

    retrieving one or more records comprising attributes of the workflow from the backup copy of the database file, wherein the one or more records are retrieved without mounting the backup copy of the database file and wherein the schema is used to identify and retrieve the workflow without accessing a mounted database file; and

    restoring the workflow to a file system without restoring the backup copy of the database file.
