identifying the peak intensity of the signal, andapproximating a first function of an intensity over a distance from said sensor to said surface based, at least in part, on an application of said identified peak intensity to a first reference curve, wherein;
the first reference curve comprises a second function of an intensity over a distance, andthe first function comprises a new reference curve for the surface.
