1. A method, comprising:

  • preforming an operation for determining if a driver is present in the vehicle;

    determining an indication that the driver of a vehicle has left the vehicle unattended while the vehicle is in a motive-enabled mode upon determining the driver is not present in the vehicle;

    performing an operation for attempting to receive and authenticate a driver access code; and

    changing the vehicle from the motive-enabled mode to a secure idle mode as a function of determining the indication that the driver of the vehicle has left the vehicle unattended while the vehicle is in the motive-enabled mode.
