1. Apparatus comprising:

  • an optical probe comprising a tubular probe wall housing of optical glass and a light source that projects imaging illumination through the housing and reflects the illumination by a cone mirror as a ring of light on the inside of a drilled hole;

    an optical sensor that forms, by reflections received through an optical lens of the optical probe, an image of the projected ring;

    a controller operably coupled to the sensor and determining, from the image, measurements of dimensions of the drilled hole; and

    a robotic transport so adapted to the optical probe as to move the optical probe inside the drilled hole to measure the drilled hole at one or more depths.
