1. An access terminal apparatus for real-time information encoding in wireless communications, comprising:

  • a rate-adaptation unit configured to;

    receive feedback information associated with data transmission from a wireless access module in a wireless communication network, wherein the feedback information comprises local feedback information and end-to-end data delay;

    determine if the end-to-end data delay is below a first threshold, and if so, increase at least one set threshold of a plurality of set thresholds;

    determine if the end-to-end data delay is above a second threshold, and if so, decrease at least one set threshold of the plurality of set thresholds; and

    determine reverse link data delay from the local feedback information; and

    an encoder configured to encode real-time information in accordance with the reverse link data delay and the plurality of set thresholds.
