1. An otic diagnostic device for remotely examining an ear, the device comprising:
- at least one earpiece having a housing, at least a portion of the housing structurally sized and configured to fit within the ear, the housing structurally configured to be fully supported by the ear;
a tip provided on the housing, the tip structurally sized and configured to fit into the ear canal of the ear;
a light source coupled to the housing for illuminating the ear canal;
a camera coupled to the housing for capturing an image and/or video in the ear canal; and
a flexible wired connection between the housing and a computer which facilitates the display or transmission of the obtained image and/or video.

Abstract
An ear ailment diagnostic device and method in accordance with the present disclosure generally comprises a pair of earpieces, which both further comprise a light source, a magnification lens, an air conduction channel and a miniature camera. The earpieces may optionally comprise a thermometer and/or tympanometer. Each earpiece is coupled to an air conduction tube, an insufflator and an electrical wiring/data tube which is coupled to a computer. The insufflator may be manually, electronically, or battery powered. In the preferred embodiment the computer comprises a smart phone with data processing capability and wireless communication capability. Any data sent from the device can then be interpreted and diagnosed in a remote location so that an accurate treatment is prescribed.

9. A method for examining an ear, the method comprising the steps of:

providing an otic diagnostic device having an earpiece that at least partially fits into an ear and is structurally sized and configured to be at least partly supported by the ear, the earpiece equipped with a camera and light source, and the earpiece having a tip sized to fit within an ear canal; positioning the tip of the earpiece in the ear canal so as to capture an image and/or video of the ear for diagnosis of an ear ailment in the ear; securing the earpiece to the ear in position to capture the image and/or video with a clip; and activating the camera to capture the image and/or video. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13)
