Selective light sensor and auto-commissioning
First Claim
1. A system for commissioning a light fixture, the system comprising:
- a power device configured to provide a power signal to a light source associated with the light fixture;
a sensor configured to generate a sensor signal that indicates an amount of light received by the sensor;
a filter configured to generate a filtered signal from the sensor signal, wherein the filtered signal includes a component of the sensor signal that represents light from the light source associated with the light fixture, but a component of the sensor signal that represents light from a light source other than the light source associated with the light fixture is at least partially blocked from the filtered signal; and
a commissioning module configured to determine that the light fixture is colocated with the sensor based on an indication in the filtered signal that the sensor received light from the light source associated with the light fixture.

Abstract
A system and method for commissioning a lighting system is provided in which signals from light sensors are filtered in order to determine whether light is received from light fixtures in the lighting system or from external light sources. Alternatively or in addition, signals from light sensors may be filtered to determine the amount of light from external light sources. By filtering the signals from the light sensors, an identification of which light fixtures are colocated with which light sensors may be made even in the presence of light received from external light sources or light from multiple light fixtures in the lighting system. Physical locations of light fixtures and/or sensors may be determined based on detecting the amount of light received from external light sources.

18. A lighting system comprising:
-
a light fixture that is configured to illuminate a lighting area; a sensor configured to detect light in the lighting area and generate a sensor signal representing the light detected by the sensor; a filter configured to generate a filtered signal from the sensor signal, wherein the filtered signal includes a component of the sensor signal that represents light from the light fixture, but a component of the sensor signal that represents light from a light source other than the light fixture is at least partially blocked from the filtered signal; and a commissioning module configured to obtain, from the filtered signal, an indication of an amount of light generated by the light source other than the light fixture, wherein the commissioning module is further configured to determine a physical location of the light fixture based at least in part on the amount of light detected by the sensor that is generated by the light source other than the light fixture. - View Dependent Claims (19)
