1. A controller-performed method for controlling operation of at least an air conditioner for conditioning a space, the method comprising:

  • based on a current time period, (a) an air conditioner controller using as a desired temperature set point one of a plurality of air conditioner user-inputted temperature set points separately received and stored by the controller and (b) the controller using as a desired humidity set point one of a plurality of air conditioner user-inputted humidity set points separately received and stored by the controller;

    the controller receiving a temperature of the space sensed by a temperature sensor;

    the controller receiving a humidity of the space sensed by a humidity sensor; and

    based on the current time period, the controller responsively establishing an occupancy mode of operation or an unoccupied mode of operation of the air conditioner;

    wherein in the unoccupied mode, when the sensed temperature is above the desired temperature set point, the controller ignores the sensed humidity and the desired humidity set point.
