1. A sensor array apparatus for monitoring medical signals, which comprises:

  • a substrate adapted for positioning relative to the torso of a patient, the substrate including a central segment defining a central axis and adapted to generally conform to an area extending along the sternum of the patient and an intermediate segment extending bilaterally outwardly from the central segment, the intermediate segment disposed between a pair of opposing segments traversing the central axis and extending bilaterally outwardly from respective opposing longitudinal ends of the central segment to define a pair of opposing remote ends, each opposing remote end defining an aperture therethrough;

    a first pair of fastener straps extending through the apertures of the opposing remote ends of one of the opposing segments to at least partially circumscribe the neck area of the patient to releasably couple to each other about the upper back area of the patient and a second pair of fastener straps extending through the apertures of the opposing remote ends of the other opposing segment to at least partially circumscribe the abdominal area of the patient to releasably couple to each other about the lower back area of the patient; and

    a plurality of medical electrodes disposed on the substrate and in electrical communication with an electronic monitoring system via a lead set extending from one opposing longitudinal end of the central segment at least partially along the central axis, wherein more than one medical electrode is disposed on at least one of the opposing segments on a common side of the central axis.
