1. A medical device, comprising:

  • a core member having a proximal end region and a distal end region;

    a tubular member disposed over the distal end region of the core member, the tubular member having a plurality of slots formed therein, a longitudinal axis, a proximal end, and a distal end;

    wherein the distal end region of the core member is bonded to the tubular member with a bonding material at a plurality of discrete bonding points that each contact the tubular member and the core member, the bonding material being selected from a group comprising adhesive and solder; and

    wherein the plurality of discrete bonding points includes first bonding point along distal end region of the core member and an intermediate bonding point that is spaced from the proximal end and the distal end of the tubular member.
