1. A method comprising:

  • determining a current location of a vehicle;

    accessing map data based on the current location of the vehicle, the map data including information about a roadway including a tagged area of the roadway, wherein the tagged area is associated with an object type;

    receiving information about the vehicle'"'"'s surroundings generated by an object detection device;

    detecting a moving object and a geographic location of the moving object based on the received information; and

    when the geographic location of the moving object corresponds to the tagged area, identifying, by the processor, the moving object as a pedestrian.
