1. An infusion system for pumping a fluid from a cartridge into a body of a user, the infusion system comprising:
- an infusion pump, wherein the infusion pump comprises an infusion pump housing including a cavity;
a monolithic adapter removably insertable into the cavity of the infusion pump housing, the adapter being configured to connect to the cartridge such that the adapter encases the cartridge;
an infusion set removably connected to the adapter; and
a cap removably connected to the pump housing adjacent to the cavity of the infusion pump,wherein the adapter comprises a cannula configured to fluidly connect the infusion set to the cartridge when the adapter is connected to and encasing the cartridge.

A fluid storage is removably inserted into the cavity of the infusion pump housing wherein, the fluid storage comprises a cartridge and an adapter connected to the cartridge such that the adapter encases the cartridge, and an infusion set is removably connected to the fluid storage.

11. A method of providing an infusion system for pumping a fluid into a body of a user, the infusion system having an infusion pump housing with a cavity, the method comprising:

placing a cartridge into the cavity of the infusion pump housing; inserting a monolithic adapter into the cavity of the infusion pump housing, the adapter comprising a connection and a cannula such that the adapter encases the cartridge and fluidically connects the cartridge to the cannula for pumping the fluid into the body of the user; and coupling a cap to the infusion pump housing for holding the adapter in place inside the cavity of the infusion pump housing, wherein the cap is threadably coupled to and removable from the infusion pump housing.
