1. A medical device comprising:
- a substrate comprising a graft polymer, wherein the main chain of the graft polymer is non-bioabsorbable and is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, a nylon, a polyurethane, a silicone, an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, a polybutester, a polyaryletherketone, and copolymers and combinations thereof; and
an amphiphilic polymer comprising both;
(1) a hydrophilic domain composed of chitosan having a degree of acetylation that is less than or equal to 50%, the hydrophilic domain having an octanol-water partition coefficient (log POW) of less than 1.0; and
(2) a hydrophobic domain composed of chitosan having a degree of acetylation that is greater than 50%, the hydrophobic domain having an octanol-water partition coefficient (log POW) of greater than 5; and
wherein the hydrophobic domain is covalently bonded to a side chain of the graft polymer via a triazole linkage.
