Abstract

To provide a high throughput film deposition means for film depositing an organic EL material made of polymer accurately and without any positional shift. A pixel portion is divided into a plurality of pixel rows by a bank, and a head portion of a thin film deposition apparatus is scanned along a pixel row to thereby simultaneously apply a red light emitting layer application liquid, a green light emitting layer application liquid, and a blue light emitting layer application liquid in stripe shapes. Heat treatment is then performed to thereby form light emitting layers luminescing each of the colors red, green, and blue.

Claims

1. A light emitting device comprising:

a first substrate;

a first electrode over the first substrate;

a light emitting layer over the first electrode, the light emitting layer comprising an organic material;

a second electrode over the light emitting layer wherein the light emitting layer is interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode;

a second substrate over the second electrode, wherein the first substrate extends beyond one side edge of the second substrate to provide a portion;

a conductive layer formed over the portion of the first substrate, the conductive layer being configured to be connected with a flexible print circuit;

a filling material comprising a resin, the filling material filling a space between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

a sealing material along peripheries of the first substrate and the second substrate,

wherein the sealing material is in contact with outer side edges of the first substrate and the second substrate, and

wherein a portion of the sealing material is formed over the portion of the first substrate.

3. The light emitting device according to claim 1, wherein the filling material serves as an adhesive.

5. The light emitting device according to claim 1, wherein the second substrate and the filling material are capable of transmitting light emitted from the light emitting layer.

7. The light emitting device according to claim 1, further comprising a passivation film over the second electrode, wherein the passivation film is located between the second electrode and the filling material and comprises silicon, oxygen and nitrogen.

9. The light emitting device according to claim 1, wherein the sealing material contains a drying agent.

2. A light emitting device comprising:

a first substrate;

a first electrode over the first substrate;

a light emitting layer over the first electrode, the light emitting layer comprising an organic material;

a second electrode over the light emitting layer wherein the light emitting layer is interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode;

a second substrate over the second electrode, wherein the first substrate extends beyond one side edge of the second substrate to provide a portion;

a conductive layer formed over the portion of the first substrate, the conductive layer being configured to be connected with a flexible print circuit;

a filling material comprising a resin and a drying agent, the filling material filling a space between the first substrate and the second substrate, and

a sealing material along peripheries of the first substrate and the second substrate,

wherein the sealing material is in contact with outer side edges of the first substrate and the second substrate, and

wherein a portion of the sealing material is formed over the portion of the first substrate.

4. The light emitting device according to claim 2, wherein the filling material serves as an adhesive.

6. The light emitting device according to claim 2, wherein the second substrate and the filling material are capable of transmitting light emitted from the light emitting layer.

8. The light emitting device according to claim 2, further comprising a passivation film over the second electrode, wherein the passivation film is located between the second electrode and the filling material and comprises silicon, oxygen and nitrogen.

10. The light emitting device according to claim 2, wherein the sealing material contains a drying agent.

11. A light emitting device comprising:

a first substrate;

a transistor over the first substrate;

an interlayer insulating film over the transistor;

a first electrode over the interlayer insulating film, wherein the first electrode is electrically connected to the transistor;

a light emitting layer over the first electrode, the light emitting layer comprising an organic material;

a second electrode over the light emitting layer wherein the light emitting layer is interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode;

a second substrate over the second electrode, wherein the first substrate extends beyond one side edge of the second substrate to provide a portion;

a conductive layer formed over the portion of the first substrate, the conductive layer being configured to be connected with a flexible print circuit;

a filling material comprising a resin, the filling material filling a space between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

a sealing material along peripheries of the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the sealing material is in contact with outer side edges of the first substrate and the second substrate, and

wherein a portion of the sealing material is formed over the portion of the first substrate.

12. The light emitting device according to claim 11, wherein the transistor comprises a channel forming region, the channel forming region comprising silicon.

13. The light emitting device according to claim 11, wherein the filling material serves as an adhesive.

14. The light emitting device according to claim 11, wherein the second substrate and the filling material are capable of transmitting light emitted from the light emitting layer.

15. The light emitting device according to claim 11, further comprising a passivation film over the second electrode, wherein the passivation film is located between the second electrode and the filling material and comprises silicon, oxygen and nitrogen.

16. The light emitting device according to claim 11, wherein the sealing material contains a drying agent.
