1. A method, comprising:

  • receiving, from a first endpoint, via a session initiation protocol (SIP) server, a request for a video/multimedia communication session in a social networking environment involving a second endpoint, wherein the request specifies the first endpoint by a personal contact information comprising a SIP address, wherein the request includes the SIP address as a source address;

    identifying end user data associated with the first endpoint, wherein the identifying includes accessing a database that verifies and retrieves the end user data, wherein the end user data includes a profile contact address, wherein the profile contact address is mapped to the personal contact information, and wherein the second endpoint is shown the profile contact address of the first endpoint and not the personal contact information associated with the first endpoint;

    translating the request, the translating comprising replacing the SIP address in the source address with the profile contact address; and

    transmitting the translated request to the second endpoint, via another SIP server.
