Abstract

Optionally substituted bispyridinylbenzene compounds useful in light-emitting devices include, but are not limited to, 1,3-bis(5-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)pyridin-3-yl)benzene and 9,9′-(5,5′-(5-methyl-1,3-phenylene)bis(pyridine-5,3-diyl))bis(9H-carbazole).

1. A compound which has a formula selected from:

7. The composition comprising a compound according to claim 1 as a host material and a fluorescent compound or phosphorescent compound as an emissive component.

8. The composition of claim 7, wherein the fluorescent compound or phosphorescent compound is selected from the group consisting of:
