Unified desktop wake and unlock
First Claim
1. A method, comprising:
- connecting a device, having a first memory and a first processor executing a first operating system, to a computer system, having a second memory and a second processor executing a second operating system, to form a unified system;
generating a unified desktop for the unified system, wherein the unified desktop includes a first user interface associated with the device and a second user interface associated with the computer system, and wherein the unified desktop emulates a personal computer environment;
receiving one of a plurality of sleep states from a user, wherein each of the plurality of sleep states is governed by a wakeup rule;
setting the unified desktop into the received sleep state, wherein in the sleep state both the first user interface and the second user interface are inactive;
receiving a phone cell at the device as a first event; and
in response to the phone call, conducting a wake action.

Abstract
Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface or “desktop” across two devices are provided. More particularly, a unified desktop is presented across a device and a computer system that comprise a unified system. The unified desktop acts as a single user interface that presents data and receives user interaction in a seamless environment that emulates a personal computing environment. To function within the personal computing environment, the unified desktop includes a sleep state where both the device and computer system become inactive. The unified desktop may be awakened by one of numerous actions by the unified system or the user. Awakening the unified desktop is governed by a set of rules that are associated with the state of the unified system.

12. The unified system 11, further comprising:
-
the unified system operable to enter a second sleep state; the unified system operable to receive a second event, wherein the second event is also a wake action, and wherein the wake action is received from a user in the first screen or the second screen; and in response to receiving the second event, the unified system operable to leave the sleep state. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
