1. A diffractive, multifocal intraocular lens for treatment of an eye of a patient comprising:

  • a diffractive pattern and at least one non-spherical surface;

    the lens having one base focus comprising a far-field focus and at least one additional focus comprising at least one of a near-field focus and a mid-field focus;

    wherein the lens is configured to reduce, when implanted in the patient'"'"'s eye, a chromatic aberration of the eye for the at least one additional focus; and

    wherein the at least one non-spherical surface is configured to alter, for at least one of the foci, a shape of a light wavefront passing through the lens;

    the alteration to the wavefront being characterized by a change of at least one spherical wavefront aberration term of a polynomial expression describing the wavefront;

    in which the change in the at least one spherical wavefront aberration term offsets, at least partly, a mean value of that spherical wavefront aberration term based on corneal measurements of a selected group of people.
