1. A light emitting device comprising:
- a light source that emits excitation light;
a light guide that propagates the excitation light, and in which the refractive index of the center part of a cross section is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral part;
a light guide end member supporting an end of an emission side of the light guide and covering an outer circumference of the light guide;
a wavelength conversion member including a fluorescent substance that absorbs the excitation light propagated by the light guide and converts the wavelength thereof, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band;
a shielding member that blocks the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, the shielding member being disposed on a first side of the wavelength conversion member and the light guide being disposed on a second side of the wavelength conversion member that is different from the first side; and
a reflection member that reflects at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, the reflection member including a reflective film that reflects light of a predetermined wavelength band with the reflective film being formed at an end face of the light guide end member, whereinthe wavelength conversion member is coupled to a tip end of the light guide on the second side of the wavelength conversion member with the reflection member being sandwiched between the light guide and the wavelength conversion member.

a light source that emits excitation light; a light guide that propagates the excitation light, and in which the refractive index of the center part of a cross section is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral part; a light guide end member supporting an end of an emission side of the light guide and covering an outer circumference of the light guide; a wavelength conversion member including a fluorescent substance that absorbs the excitation light propagated by the light guide and converts the wavelength thereof, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band; a shielding member that blocks the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, the shielding member being disposed on a first side of the wavelength conversion member and the light guide being disposed on a second side of the wavelength conversion member that is different from the first side; and a reflection member that reflects at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, the reflection member including a reflective film that reflects light of a predetermined wavelength band with the reflective film being formed at an end face of the light guide end member, wherein the wavelength conversion member is coupled to a tip end of the light guide on the second side of the wavelength conversion member with the reflection member being sandwiched between the light guide and the wavelength conversion member. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

9. A light emitting device comprising:

a light source that emits excitation light; a light guide that propagates the excitation light, and in which the refractive index of the center part of a cross section is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral part; a wavelength conversion member including a fluorescent substance that absorbs the excitation light propagated by the light guide and converts the wavelength thereof, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band; a shielding member disposed fully downstream of an end of an emission side of the light guide with respect to a propagation direction of the light, and that blocks the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member; and a reflection member that reflects at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, wherein the shielding member is in the form of a lens. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

a light source that emits excitation light; a light guide that propagates the excitation light, and in which the refractive index of the center part of a cross section is higher than the refractive index of the peripheral part; a wavelength conversion member including a fluorescent substance that absorbs the excitation light propagated by the light guide and converts the wavelength thereof, and releases light of a predetermined wavelength band; a shielding member that blocks the wavelength of at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member; and a reflection member that reflects at least part of the excitation light and the light emitted from the wavelength conversion member, wherein the wavelength conversion member is made up of two or more layers, and the reflection member is sandwiched between the layers of the wavelength conversion member.
