1. A lighting node comprising:
- a lamp configured for generating illumination;
a radio device configured for radio communication;
a memory configured to store a group identifier for the lighting node; and
wherein the radio device is configured to couple to a remote controller by registering the group identifier to the remote controller;
wherein the radio device is configured to remotely receive a color profile, from the remote controller, to perform a background automatic calibration to compensate for decalibration of the lamp overtime, while the remote controller is oriented towards the lamp and while the lightning node is engaged to execute another command from the remote controller initiated by a user; and
wherein during the background automatic calibration, the radio device is configured to receive multiple calibration commands in sequence from the remote controller as feedback to adjust the generated illumination until the generated illumination matches the color profile; and
wherein the lamp is configured to adjust the generated illumination based on the multiple calibration commands in sequence.

Abstract
A lighting node is described. One embodiment of the lighting node includes a lamp, a radio device, and a memory. The lamp is configured for generating illumination. The radio device is configured for radio communication. The radio device is configured to remotely receive a color profile from the controller. The lamp is also configured to generate illumination to substantially match the received color profile. The memory is configured to store a group identifier for the lighting node.

10. A lighting node comprising:
-
a lamp configured for generating illumination, wherein the generated illumination can only be adjusted remotely; a radio device configured for radio communication; a memory configured to store a group identifier for the lighting node; and wherein the radio device is configured to couple to a first remote controller by transmitting the group identifier to the first remote controller; wherein the radio device is configured to remotely receive a color profile from the first remote controller; wherein the lamp is configured to perform a background automatic calibration that occurs automatically without user involvement while the lightning node is executing another command from the first remote controller initiated by a user; and wherein the lamp is configured to perform the background automatic calibration by generating illumination to substantially match the received color profile to compensate for decalibration of the lamp overtime. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

17. A method of operating a lighting node for remote color setting, the method comprising:
-
coupling the lighting node to a remote controller; receiving a background calibration command from the remote control device, wherein the background calibration command is sent from the remote controller automatically without user involvement while the lightning node is engaged in another command from the remote controller initiated by a user, wherein the other command requires the user to orient the an optical sensor of the remote controller at a lamp of the lighting node; providing illumination from the lighting node to the optical sensor in response to the other command, wherein the lighting node includes one or more light-emitting diodes; receiving a sequence of color adjustment commands including a target color profile from a remote controller until the illumination from the lighting node matches the target color profile; and adjusting at least one of the one or more light-emitting diodes in sequential steps, in response to each of the color adjustment commands. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)
