1. Method to display a graphic head up instrument display upon a substantially transparent windscreen head up display of a vehicle, the method comprising:

  • monitoring operation of the vehicle;

    monitoring an operator-defined configuration of the graphic head up instrument display, wherein the graphic head up instrument display includes at least one always-displayed element and at least one potentially-displayed element indicating potentially-critical information related to the monitored operation of the vehicle obtained from a respective vehicle operation sensor;

    comparing the potentially-critical information to a corresponding threshold;

    classifying the potentially-critical information as one of critical information and non-critical information based on the comparing independent of an operating environment of the vehicle;

    monitoring an occupant eye location;

    continuously estimating a current direction of an occupant gaze based on the monitored occupant eye location, the current direction of the occupant gaze corresponding to a point on the transparent windscreen where a direction of the eyes of the occupant are currently focused;

    determining the graphic head up instrument display based upon the operation of the vehicle and the operator-defined configuration of the graphic head up instrument display, wherein the graphic head up instrument display is registered to a location upon the transparent windscreen that is offset from the current direction of the occupant gaze, said registered location of said graphic head up instrument dynamically adjusted in relation to movement of the current direction of the occupant gaze, and wherein the determined graphic head up instrument display includes the at least one potentially-displayed element when the potentially-displayed element indicates the potentially-critical information classified as critical information;

    displaying the graphic head up instrument display upon the substantially transparent windscreen head up display; and

    wherein the substantially transparent windscreen head up display comprises one of light emitting particles or microstructures over substantially an entirety of the windscreen permitting luminescent display while permitting vision through the windscreen.
