1. A light source, comprising:

  • a disc-shaped substrate;

    a plurality of solid state light emitting cells having a substantially planar arrangement on the substrate; and

    one or more reflectors, each comprising an unbroken surface, the one or more reflectors arranged with the solid state light emitting cells and shaped as a continuous curve so that light emitted from the light source has a substantially spherical emission pattern,wherein each of the one or more reflectors is cantilevered from an inner edge of the disc-shaped substrate to form a lip that extends partially over a solid state light emitting cell such that an outer edge of the solid state light emitting cell is configured to emit at least a portion of the light in an upward direction past the reflector, and wherein the one or more reflectors is configured to reflect at least a portion of the light in a downward direction.
