Abstract

This disclosure features human milk permeates and compositions containing the same obtained from fractionated whole human milk. The oligosaccharide rich permeate and permeate compositions of the present invention are useful as nutritional supplements for pre-term and full term infants, for establishing or maintaining gut flora and for treating the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease.

Claims

1. A human nutritional supplement comprising a concentrated form of human milk permeate, said human milk permeate comprising human milk oligosaccharides filtered from human milk.

2. The human nutritional supplement of claim 1, wherein the human milk permeate is filtered from human milk pooled from two or more donors.

3. The human nutritional supplement of claim 1, further comprising vitamins and minerals.

4. The human nutritional supplement of claim 1 wherein the concentrated form of human milk permeate filtered from human milk is concentrated by reverse osmosis.
