1. A bladed panel system comprising:
- a chassis including a backplane;
a plurality of blades coupled to the chassis, each blade including at least one rear port configured to receive a first media segment and a plurality of front ports configured to receive a plurality of second media segments, each blade being separately moveable relative to the chassis between a closed position and at least a first extended position, each blade including a circuit board arrangement and a plurality of smart couplers including front couplers that define the front ports, each front coupler including at least one media reading interface that is configured to read physical layer information stored on a media segment received at the front coupler, the circuit board arrangement of each blade being configured to electrically connect the respective smart couplers to the backplane of the chassis, each blade including a connection arrangement including a flexible cable that enables the respective circuit board arrangement to remain electrically connected to the backplane during movement of the blade between the closed and first extended positions.

Abstract
A fiber panel system includes a chassis including a backplane; and at least a first blade configured to mount to the chassis. The first blade is moveable relative to the chassis between a refracted (closed) position and at least one extended position. The first blade includes a coupler arrangement for connecting together media segments. The first blade remains electrically connected to the backplane of the chassis when moving between the retracted and extended positions.

46. A method of cabling a bladed panel including a plurality of blades that are coupled to a chassis so as to be separately moveable between closed and extended positions, the chassis including a backplane, each blade including a plurality of front couplers and a circuit board arrangement that connects the front couplers to the backplane, the method comprising:
-
routing at least one outgoing media segment to a front of the chassis; sliding a first of the blades relative to the chassis from the closed position to the extended position without disconnecting the front couplers of the first blade from the backplane; connecting the outgoing media segment at a front port of one of the front couplers of the first blade while the first blade is disposed in the extended position; sliding the first blade to the closed position relative to the chassis after the outgoing media segment is connected at the front port; feeding a connectorized end of an incoming media segment over a base of the first blade from the rear of the chassis toward the front couplers; accessing the front couplers through an open top of the first blade at the front of the chassis when the first blade is in the extended position; and inserting the connectorized end of the incoming media segment into a rear port of one of the front couplers. - View Dependent Claims (47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53)
