1. An implantable medical device system comprising:

  • an implantable medical device configured to acquire EEG signals from a patient, to detect a neurological event of interest based on one or more EEG parameters derived from the EEG signals, and to store in a memory, a representation of the EEG signals, together with the one or more EEG parameters;

    an external component provided with a software operating program and associated hardware and configured to process, store, playback and display on a display of the external component the representation of the EEG signals and the one or more EEG parameters stored in the memory of the implantable medical device; and

    a communication link configured to establish communication between a communications subsystem of the implantable medical device and the external component to enable the external component to process, store, playback and display on the display of the external component the representation of the EEG signals acquired and stored in the implantable medical device;

    wherein the software operating program and associated hardware of the external component is configured to process the EEG signals received from the implantable medical device in order to simulate the detection of the neurological event.
