1. A system for generating data associated with at least one sample, comprising:

  • at least one first arrangement which is a light source configured to forward at least one first radiation having at least two different wavelengths to the at least one sample so as to cause at least one second radiation to be provided from the at least one sample that is based on the at least one first radiation; and

at least one second arrangement which is a detector configured toreceive the at least one second radiation from the at least one sample; and

at least one third arrangement which is a computer configure to generate a particular number (N) of measurements of at least one characteristic of at least one portion of the at least one sample; and

wherein each of the N measurements is generated by the computer as a function of a depth coordinate, wherein a depth separation of each of the N measurements is at least a particular value (d), andwherein the computer is further configured to characterize the at least one sample across a total physical depth range (R) that is greater than the product of N and d.
