1. A method for providing connectivity between mobile devices and an Internet protocol (IP) network, comprising:
- providing a set of neighboring wireless routers, each operable to receive data packets from a mobile device and to route the data packets to the IP network;
providing connectivity between the set of neighboring wireless routers through a set of wireline routers in the IP network;
exchanging impact information between the neighboring wireless routers to adjust operating parameters of the wireless routers in response to variations in the wireless network;
wherein the impact information comprises traffic engineering parameters for the wireless router;
wherein the traffic engineering parameters comprise at least one of a class-of-service algorithm and a class-of-service resource allocation or a quality-of-service algorithm and a quality-of-service resource allocation; and
wherein adjusting operating parameters of the wireless routers comprises determining, based on the exchanged impact information, operating parameters such that traffic engineering parameters are negotiated among the set of neighboring routers.

Abstract
A method and system for configuring a wireless router and a wireless communications network includes establishing connectivity between a wireless router and at least one wireline router. Connectivity between the wireless router and a plurality of neighboring wireless routers is established through the wireline router. The wireless router is configured based on information exchanged with the neighboring wireless routers through the wireline router.
