1. An additive manufacturing system comprising:
- a platen gantry;
a platen assembly comprising;
a platform portion operably retained by the platen gantry, and having a surface;
a retention bracket biased towards the platform portion and configured to engage the surface of the platform portion for restraining a film therebetween, and to disengage from the surface to release the film; and
a wheel;
a head gantry configured to retain a print head for printing a three-dimensional part on the restrained film; and
a removal assembly comprising a drive roller, wherein the wheel of the platen assembly and the drive roller are configured to nip the film therebetween when the platen assembly engages the removal assembly to draw the released film having the printed three-dimensional part from the platen assembly.

9. An additive manufacturing system comprising:
-
a platen assembly configured to restrain and release a film, where the platen assembly comprises a wheel; a head gantry configured to retain a print head for printing one or more three-dimensional parts onto the restrained film; a platen gantry configured to move the platen assembly along a first axis relative to the print head while the film is restrained; a removal assembly comprising a drive roller, wherein the wheel of the platen assembly and the drive roller are configured to nip the film therebetween when the platen assembly engages the removal assembly to draw the released film having the one or more printed three-dimensional parts; and a mechanism for retaining a supply of the film, wherein the mechanism is not retained by the platen assembly such that movement of the platen assembly along the first axis can unwind the film from the supply. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
