1. A modular motion-sensitive input device for a wireless-compatible gaming platform, said modular motion-sensitive input device comprising:

  • a base component comprising a first portable handheld body configured to be held and manipulated by a single gripping hand of a user to play a game, said base component having an internal cavity configured to receive one or more batteries and associated electronic circuitry for powering and operating said modular motion-sensitive input device, said base component further comprising;

    i) a memory having stored therein a unique identification associated with said modular motion-sensitive input device;

    ii) a first arrangement of one or more sensors selected from the group consisting of a tilt sensor, an accelerometer, and a gyroscope, wherein the first arrangement of one or more sensors is configured to generate a first input signal responsive to a first sensed motion of said base component; and

    iii) a wireless transceiver configured to provide two-way wireless communication with said wireless-compatible gaming platform; and

    an auxiliary component configured to modularly attach to said base component, said auxiliary component comprising a second portable handheld body configured to be held and manipulated by a single gripping hand of said user to play said game, and a second arrangement of one or more sensors selected from the group consisting of a tilt sensor, an accelerometer, and a gyroscope, wherein the second arrangement of one or more sensors is configured to generate a second input signal responsive to a second sensed motion of said auxiliary component; and

    wherein said wireless transceiver is further configured to transmit to said wireless-compatible gaming platform a first wireless communication when said auxiliary component is not attached to said base component and a second wireless communication when said auxiliary component is attached to said base component, and wherein said first wireless communication comprises information based at least in part on said first input signal and wherein said second wireless communication comprises information based at least in part on said first input signal and said second input signal.
