- providing a metal-silicon alloy comprising a metal matrix and silicon structures dispersed in the metal matrix, the metal-silicon alloy including no more than 30 wt % silicon,at least partially etching the metal matrix to release particulate silicon structures from the metal matrix, andcollecting the particulate silicon structures to provide the silicon anode material.
