Method and system for automatically selecting and displaying traffic images
First Claim
1. A method for displaying one or more images, comprising:
- associating a plurality of network retrieval addresses corresponding to a plurality of camera signal feeds with a plurality of geographical areas in an image table;
processing travel information generated by a moving user device;
determining an address of a camera signal feed, having one or more images corresponding thereto, based on the processed travel information;
causing a display device to display the one or more images of the camera signal feed corresponding to the determined address andwherein the travel information includes geographical coordinates of the user device determined using GPS.

Abstract
Software, at a networked central computer or at a wireless mobile user device, uses GPS coordinates of a mobile user device'"'"'s current location to determine a polygon in which the GPS coordinates lie. Upon determining the polygon that surrounds the current location, the software can perform a task related to the polygon. Examples of tasks include: determining traffic camera images to display on the mobile user device based on the location, speed, and heading of the user device. The images can include advertisements that pertain to the general vicinity, or demographics of those typically in the vicinity, of the cameras'"'"' coverage area. Another task includes associating performance data from a vehicle, and stored in a table, for a given location with a corresponding polygon that surrounds the location; processing the data; and assigning a risk value to the polygon based on the corresponding performance data.

6. A method for displaying one or more images, comprising:
-
receiving travel information from a moving use device corresponding to at least its current location, wherein the travel information includes geographical coordinates determined from GPS; comparing the geographical coordinates included in the received travel information to polygon records in a polygon database;
determining a polygon record from the polygon database for which the boundaries of a corresponding polygon surround the geographical coordinates contained in the received travel information; anddetermining one of a plurality of logical addresses corresponding to one of a plurality of camera signal feeds corresponding to the determined polygon record; and displaying one or more images corresponding to the determined camera signal feed logical address. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15)
