Abstract

Novel heterocyclic materials are disclosed. The materials contain a fused tetracyclic structure that can improve the properties of OLED devices when the novel heterocyclic materials are incorporated into such devices.

15. A first device comprising an organic light emitting device, further comprising:

an anode;

a cathode; and

an organic layer, disposed between the anode and the cathode, comprising a compound having the formula;

16. The first device of claim 15, wherein the organic layer is an emissive layer and the compound of Formula I is a host.

17. The first device of claim 15, wherein the organic layer further comprises an emissive dopant.

18. The first device of claim 17, wherein the emissive dopant is a transition metal complex having at least one ligand or part of the ligand if the ligand is more than bidentate selected from the group consisting of:

19. The first device of claim 15, wherein the device further comprises a second organic layer that is a non-emissive layer and the compound having Formula I is a material in the second organic layer.

20. The first device of claim 19, wherein the second organic layer is a blocking layer and the compound having Formula I is a blocking material in the second organic layer.

21. The first device of claim 15, wherein the first device is a consumer product.

22. The first device of claim 15, wherein the first device is an organic light-emitting device.

23. The first device of claim 15, wherein the first device comprises a lighting panel.

24. The first device of claim 15, wherein R₈ is independently selected from the group consisting of deuterium, arylalkyl, silyl, germyl, aryl, heteroaryl, and combinations thereof.
