1. A quadrilateral-shaped camera mounting assembly comprising an inner-front surface, the inner-front surface comprising:
- an opening within the inner-front surface of the camera mounting assembly and configured to be placed over a camera lens comprising a rectangular image sensor;
a plurality of sides coupled to the edges of the inner-front surface of the camera mounting assembly and protruding from the inner-front surface of the camera mounting assembly, the plurality of sides comprising an indented section at each intersection of two adjacent sides; and
a plurality of recessed channels within the inner-front surface of the camera mounting assembly, wherein each recessed channel is associated with an indented section;
wherein each indented section and associated recessed channel are configured to allow for the passage of light through the indented section and associated recessed channel and incident upon the image sensor.

Abstract
A camera mounting assembly is configured to couple to a camera housing. The camera mounting assembly includes a plurality of indentations configured to allow for the passage of light through the indentations and upon the image sensor of a camera enclosed by the camera housing. The camera mounting assembly can further include recessed channels within an inner-front surface of the camera mounting assembly configured to further allow for the passage of light through the indentations, through the recessed channels, and upon the image sensor.
