1. A dialysis fluid cassette comprising:
- a rigid body having a first recessed portion; and
a flexible backing covering the first recessed portion, the flexible backing cooperating with the first recessed portion of the rigid body to at least partially form a gas release chamber that has a liquid inlet port, a liquid outlet port, and a gas outlet port,wherein the gas release chamber is configured such that, when the dialysis fluid cassette is disposed within a cassette compartment of an associated dialysis machine, the gas outlet port is positioned near a top region of the gas release chamber and the liquid inlet and outlet ports are positioned near a bottom region of the gas release chamber;
wherein the gas release chamber has a height sufficient to allow a first liquid in the top region of the gas release chamber to remain substantially stagnant as a portion of a second liquid in the bottom region of the gas release chamber flows through the gas release chamber from the region of the gas release chamber and the second liquid in the bottom region of the gas release chamber is maintained as the portion of the second liquid flows through the gas release chamber from the liquid inlet port to the liquid outlet port, and the first and second liquids are miscible liquids.

18. A dialysis system comprising:
-
a dialysis machine defining a cassette compartment; and a dialysis fluid cassette configured to fit within the cassette compartment of the dialysis machine, the dialysis fluid cassette comprising a rigid body having a first recessed portion; and a flexible backing covering the first recessed portion, the flexible backing cooperating with the first recessed portion of the rigid body to at least partially form a gas release chamber that has a liquid inlet port, a liquid outlet port, and a gas outlet port; wherein the gas release chamber has a height sufficient to allow a first liquid in the top region of the gas release chamber to remain substantially stagnant as a portion of a second liquid in the bottom region of the gas release chamber flows through the gas release chamber from the liquid inlet port to the liquid outlet port such that an interface between the first liquid in the top region of the gas release chamber and the second liquid in the bottom region of the gas release chamber is maintained as the portion of the second liquid flows through the gas release chamber from the liquid inlet port to the liquid outlet port, and the first and second liquids are miscible liquids. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20)

21. An integrated fluid circuit component adapted to removably seat in a bodily liquid purification machine, the integrated fluid circuit component comprising:
-
a rigid body having a substantially flat main portion and a plurality of recessed portions extending from the flat main portion; and a flexible backing covering a first recessed portion of the rigid body to at least partially form an elongate gas release chamber having a microporous filter at or near a top region of the elongate gas release chamber, and the flexible backing cooperating with second and third recessed portions of the rigid body to at least partially form first and second channels, respectively, that are in fluid communication with a bottom region of the elongate gas release chamber; wherein the elongate gas release chamber has a height sufficient to maintain an interface between a first liquid in the top region of the elongate gas release chamber and a second liquid in the bottom region of the elongate gas release chamber as a portion of the second liquid flows through the bottom region of the elongate gas release chamber from the liquid inlet port to the liquid outlet port such that an interface between the first liquid in the top region of the elongate gas release chamber and second liquid in the bottom region of the elongate gas release chamber from the liquid inlet port to the liquid outlet port and the first and second liquids are miscible liquids. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)
